CD Projekt Red plans to remake The Witcher

CDPR announced some of its upcoming projects it is working on, including a follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. The company also revealed a project called “Canis Majoris”, which was apparently believed by fans to be a Witcher game. CDPR will be working with Fool Theory, a Polish game studio that has worked on a good number of projects in the past. Fool Theory will remake ‘The Witcher’ on Unreal Engine 5. The game is currently in the early stages of development, which means there is still some time until we get to play it on our system. Speaking of the system, the original Witcher title was released for PC and Mac. It is likely that the remake won’t just be limited to PC, it could also come to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Currently, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for most platforms, certainly not for Mac, but for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

The remake doesn’t make sense for the original Witcher as it was released in 2007, which was 15 years earlier. Also, since it will be built on the new Unreal Engine 5, expect immense graphical improvements.

In related news, CDPR is already working on the next Cyberpunk 2077 title as well. With a buggy release in 2020, the game was not impressive at all, as rated by critics. However, fast-forward to today, the game is millions of players Night City visits daily.
